A Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) is a legal judgment, decree, or order that recognizes the rights of an alternate payee under the retirement plan (a former spouse, child, or other dependent) for support, alimony, or marital property rights. The company is legally required to recognize QDROs.
Remember that regardless of the QDRO, you should still try to take full advantage of your 401(k) Plan, save as much as you can.
